Initial Research Pathway

  • Research topic, turbofan engine, initially chosen by Cephas. I originally chose Atlas by Boston Robotics. 
  • As I have a background in aerospace, I decided to do this as well.
  • We read up on turbofan on Wikipedia to get the general overview of the topic.
  • We used chat GPT to get further understanding of the topic.
  • Google search the topic to find relevant articles to support the use of turbofan engine.
  • Finds article by NASA(credible source)
  • From google search, realise turbo jet engines (faster and stronger) exist.
  • Find out why is turbojet not used in commercial flights.
  • Use information to come up with summary.

Interpretation of quote

“While all engineers should have good communication skills, global engineers face additional challenges, making effective communication an imperative.” Debra Kraft, Careers Content Writer, Demand Media (2016) My interpretation of this quote is that for efficient and effective work to be done, communication is key. Especially in a globalised world, where people from all walks of life with different language and culture can participate in a project, the ability to communicate well is all the more important.  One example of this is when working with someone from China who can only speak in Chinese as someone who can only speak and write English. People in their home county will be more used to using their country's own system and language.  Even with programmes like google translate to assist in conveying meaning, the result of the translation will never as good as being able to understand the other person directly.

Research Project and Tech Report Contribution

1. Prepared the google doc to make it easy for my teammates to fill up their answers. (eg. Content page, points) 2. Delegate what to do to each of the team members. 3. Wrote introduction. 4. Came up with points to write for background. 4. Used ChatGPT to come up with issues. 5. Came up with the smartwatch google form to gather data for primary research.  6.
